Food and water prior to travel?

No feeding or watering at least 4 hours prior to collection. We recommend that your pets travel on an empty stomach to avoid vomiting or soiling their box.
We supply the water containers used in the travel kennel right before departure.
For international destinations when animals are in transit, they will be transferred to the animal transit facility to be fed and watered between connecting flights.
Many of the International Airports have separate kennel areas where animals are taken out of the boxes during the transit.

Where do they travel on the plane?

Animals travel in a compartment which is usually at the rear of the plane.
This is a ventilated cargo hold of the aircraft pressurized and heated in exactly the same way as the passenger cabin.
Live animals always have first priority and won’t get loaded with other baggage or cargo.

Is there anything I can do to help make the flight more comfortable for my cat/dog?

There are a few things that can be done.
It is a good idea to get your travel crate well in advance and put it somewhere in your house to get your cat/dog used to it.
You can set up a bed in it and even feed them in it. This helps to reduce the stress of being in the crate during the flight.
You can also get your cat/dog used to meeting lots of different people in order to introduce them to strange noises and new surroundings.

At what age can a puppy/kitten fly overseas?

Generally a puppy or kitten is able to fly at the age of 8 weeks depending on destination and airline.(austrian airlines 8 weeks - lufthansa,airfrance-klm 12 weeks etc...)
Some countries will not allow a puppy or kitten to travel on it's mothers rabies vaccination record.
In this case the animal may not travel until it is old enough to have its own rabies vaccination.
We highly recommend to contact us and check well in advance for the particular requirements of your destination country and airline of choice.

Where do I pick up my pet at the destination aiport?

Live animals are always handled in the cargo section of the airport.
Quote your airwaybill number to the handling agent and your pet will be handed over to you once it has been customs cleared and examined by the local state vet.
In the case of countries where quarantine applies you are not allowed not collect your pet.
This is done by an approved animal transport company in the destination country.
They transport the pets directly to the quarantine facility on your behalf.
There may occure live animal handling charges at the destination airport.
These fees vary and are depending on the airport and the airline.
